About who needs care: this is for my 92-year-old mother-in-law. She lives at home, and her son lives with her, but he works full time and would like to be able to go away occasionally on weekends, especially in the summer. She has started to have some short-term memory loss, repeats stories, etc. But she is largely "with it". SHe has bad knees which makes it impossible for her to go up and down stairs alone. We've brought a commode in since there is no bathroom on the first floor of the house. Help using the commode would be ideal, making light lunch would be another ask, company for several hours. Then we are hoping for someone who could provide overnight stays on occasion, mainly on the weekend (not every weekend, but maybe once a month). She spends most of her day watching MSNBC or CNN. She's a proud democrat:) About the care needs: Pat (my MIL) appreciates it when you treat her like an adult. I've watched her get very annoyed when people talk to her as if she's a child. So whoever comes would need to be aware of that. I don't know that there are any other specific personality or skill requirements, more just a friendly approach. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
