About who needs care: My aunt lives in a walk up apt in Porter Square and has lived there for over 40 years. She is starting to have trouble getting out because of the stairs and needs assistance making sure she has basic food, making sure she is doing her dishes, and taking a shower. She is showing some small signs of memory loss - word retrieval etc. She is a lovely person and easy to get along with. We are starting to look for assisted living locations but that will take some time. Her days are pretty unstructured. She likes to watch movies and TV shows as well as some reading, About the care needs: Someone who can be gentle but firm with her to make sure she is taking care of herself. Mary has been independent and living on her own her an entire adult life and is used to doing everything herself. She knows she needs assistance but it also means a chance in lifestyle to have someone in her apt. Someone who kind and reliable. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
