About who needs care: Petite, elderly widowed woman with moderate dementia and her large, sweet elderly dog. Different shifts of in-home care are needed to supplement existing care team. Patient is mobile but slightly unsteady. Can take care of her own hygiene but sometimes needs reminders and prompting. Weekday/Weekend Days Ideally Friday, Saturday and Sunday; 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Duties to include, but may not be limited to: - Ensuring patient eats breakfast and takes her medications (aka vitamins) - Feeding the dog and taking him for monitored walks in the backyard throughout the day - Preparing, serving and cleaning up after lunch - Safety monitoring - General companionship and assistance - Light housework - Medical assistance as needed (i. e lifting, first aid, calling 911 or others for help) Weekday/Weekend Nights Exact nights TBD; 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. Duties to include, but may not be limited to: - Preparing, serving and cleaning up after dinner - Assisting patient with getting ready for and into bed - Responding to any patient or dog needs throughout the night - Assisting patient with getting cleaned up and dressed in the morning - Taking care of the dog as needed - Safety monitoring - General companionship and assistance - Light housework - Medical assistance as needed (i. e lifting, first aid, calling 911 or others for help). Separate bedroom and bathroom provided but caregiver must keep door open not be a super heavy sleeper as patient is known to wander the house at night. Adherence to strict routine (to be provided during interview process) is essential to helping patient maintain cognitive stability. About the care needs: - Soft spoken, respectful and supportive. - Must speak good English - MUST love and be kind to dogs - Patient can have a strong personality and does not like to feel like she is being babysat - Must have a valid US drivers license and their own reliable and safe transportation Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
