My husband was diagnosed with ALS last year in Sept and has lost much function since then. He has a wry sense of humor, loves music, and was an avid traveler, hiker and reader. Now he's largely wheelchair bound, communicates using a tablet with a voice program and an eye gaze communication system, gets his nutrition and meds through a g tube. He can pivot with a walker betw bed and wheelchair or needs to be moved with a hoyer lift. We have some wonderful PT help but are needling more. We are looking for people who are warm, patient, good humored and dependable who take initiative to help. Experience with folks with neuro muscular challenges would be great, We are very welcoming and supportive and my husband is deeply appreciative of caregivers' help.
