About the job
About who needs care: Michael is my 57-year-old brother who has muscular dystrophy. Our mother recently passed way and he is now under my care. Mike is a fall risk and rarely leaves the house. I work two jobs and am gone nearly all day everyday and sometimes travel on the weekend. At this time, I am almost the only other person he ever sees and that is rare. I am worried about his lack of contact with other people. I am looking for someone to visit twice a week just to talk and play cards or something with him. Two hours each time. About the care needs: We need someone who is patient. Due to his medical condition, Mike slurs his speech and is sometimes hard to understand. Mike has a low IQ and although he can hold a conversation, it is often about nonsense and can be repetitive. You will often hear the same story repeated or he will talk about a tv show as if it is real. The older he gets, the more his mental capacity is deteriorating. Mike is a kind sole. He has a pure heart and never holds Ill will towards anyone (except telemarketers, lol). He is becoming increasingly lonely. Services needed include: companionship.
