About who needs care: We are looking for a person to be present in the home from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for 3 -5 days per week. The patient needs help with using a bed pan, personal hygiene after using a bedpan, turning in bed, eating, drinking and taking their medications. This is to provide care to an 88-year-old female on hospice. The patient is confined to their bed and does suffer from periods of confusion and dementia. The patient has one additional full time caregiver that is their 88-year-old husband. Additionally the patient has other family members that may be present to assist as needed. About the care needs: A caregiver that would be ideal would be patient and could work to decrease anxiety or flustered feelings from the patients spouse; For more than 3 years the spouse has been the primary caregiver, and he is still very capable, but he does need help with caring for his wife to ensure his health and that her needs are met. An ideal caregiver would continue to involve him as needed and be willing to earn trust and confidence from the spouse. An ideal caregiver will be strong enough to lift and turn the patient, she is likely 170 -190 lbs. If the caregiver has experience as a certified nurse aid that would be a desired skill set. A caregiver with a cheerful, caring personality would be desired. A well organized caregiver, that is a planner. The caregiver would also need to communicate well with other family members via phone call or text message. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
