About who needs care: Widower. Lost his wife a year ago. Lonely. Has heart problems and has been in and out of the hospital about 8 times or more in the last year. Has too many medications to keep track of. Likes to play golf, spend time with family, and watch reruns of Andy Griffith show. About the care needs: A good listener. Calm and able to diffuse anxiety. Need to be capable and confident without arrogance. Offer reassurance that they know what they are talking about but also know when to say they need to find something out or figure something out. Can't be a know-it-all or a pushover. Too much disagreement = distrust. Have to keep the trust. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
