Hello. I am trying to keep my mother with dementia in her own home and out of a nursing home. I am looking for a weekly caregiver for my posted hours and then also be able to be flexible to help cover when one of my other caregivers needs time off (they will help cover for you as well). I have care for my mom from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. My caregivers work together to make sure there is coverage if one of them is sick or has an appointment. For the three shifts that I need help with your job duties would just include interacting with my mom, making sure she has something for dinner, drinks, and snacks. She takes two pills before bed and I will be home to make sure to help give them to her. My mom still knows who I am, but her short-term memory is gone. She will need assistance with walking with her walker. Basically using a gait belt to hold onto her so that she won't fall. She will need assistance and cueing to go to the bathroom every 1-1 1/2 hours so that she doesn't have any accidents. My mom is in diapers. I supply all the supplies... I have a wheelchair and a walker and anything that is needed to take care of my mom. For this job, you must work well with others because this is a team effort where all you are on the same page to help take care of my mom. Comfortable work setting in an east side Indianapolis condominium.
