About who needs care: Patient has vascular dementia and a history of lumbar stenosis and avascular necrosis of the hip which limits mobility. He is pleasantly confused and also hard of hearing. He is a fall risk and is supposed to limit his walking. He is fairly comfortable in his chair throughout the day, but my mom will need time to leave the house to run errands a few times per week. Typically, you would just need to sit with him and ensure he does not try to get up, use the urinal if he needs to urinate, etc. About the care needs: Understanding of the limitations of dementia would be helpful. It's difficult for him to hold a conversation with family or his wife without confusion, so there is not really a need for specific hobbies or interest. There should be very little caretaking, more just keeping him company with occasional need to urinate. Services needed include: feeding, and bathing / dressing.
