Seeking Full-time Senior Care Provider In Crown Point

About who needs care: Until 3 mos ago, my 99-year-old mom was living independently in her home, driving , running own errands and socializing with friends. She is now in Heart Failure with associated vascular dementia. She is homebound, feels exhausted with any physical demands, has lost most of immediate and working memory, and just wants to die. She needs an empathic yet energetic, upbeat companion who understands the experience of joy as well as grief. Hobbies in past: reading, needlework, sewing, current events, friends and keeping a clean, organized home. Physical and cognitive limitations are barriers to continued involvement. Mom needs self affirming daily activities and people who can persuade her to try again. About the care needs: A caregiver who is friendly, upbeat, compassionate, structured, encouraging of involvement/self initiation and finds solutions by thinking outside the box. Candidate should have knowledge and experience working with elderly who have dementia. Safety precautions, fall prevention while encouraging independence are a top priority. Must be a positive people person! Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
