About who needs care: My father is 86 years old and currently under Hospice care at home with heart disease. My siblings and I have been providing care and need to introduce additional help into the mix. He has a great sense of humor and is generally a low maintenance personality. As the disease continues to advance, his legs don't always support him so he requires transfers from the bed for toileting and to a chair in the living room to be with the family. He generally wakes between 9 - 10am, has breakfast and takes meds. He naps off and on throughout day and heads to between 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. His hospice nurse and aide (for bathing) comes on Tuesday and Friday weekly. He loves watching car shows that feature 1950's models, Vice Grip Garage (car repair show), etc. We are a Christian family and he enjoys watching pastors on TV. He spends a lot of the day watching You Tube and movies. About the care needs: Personality fit -- good sense of humor, calm personality and professional demeaner., and someone that is NOT loud. MUST get along well with dogs - there is one medium size dog in the home. Skills needed -- dispensing medications, assistance with toileting (if needed, but not usually a daily occurrence). Physical transfers from bed to toilet, lift recliner. I'm working on getting an electric lift transfer chair to make this even easier. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
