About who needs care: my father is 94 years old, he uses a wheel chair and with assistance can go short distances with a walker. He is cared for by my 87-year-old mother but recently she needs more help, particularly with showering, changing, with getting him out of bed and putting him back to bed. He is cognitively intact and independent with feeding. He enjoys reading the paper, watching the news and chatting with his wife. Ideally we need assistance in the morning around 9 a.m. to get him out of bed and ready, in the afternoon to go down for a nap and again in the evening to help get him in bed About the care needs: my father does well with kindness and patience, he does not do well with "tough love". He weighs about 155 lb and needs assistance with transfers. My mom used to provide 24/7 care but since his most recent rehab admission they need more help. He used to be a civil engineer. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
