About who needs care: This is for my aunt. My cousin lives out of town and wants me to help him find someone who can come in the house with her multiple times a week. This would be for some companionship and for activities. She is bored, but unable to drive. She has some dementia, but is very functional. She will ask repetitive questions and forget what she is talking about sometimes. She doesn't have much in the way of health problems. She is a bit on the skinny side as she doesn't eat as much as she should. In the past she loved to go out and eat, she loves dogs, she love to drink wine, she loves to read and talk about books. She really liked going to church and volunteering her time to various places that she could help at. I am not positive how she would like to structure her day. She would be able to communicate well with a home care person in determining that. About the care needs: I think she would prefer a female caregiver. I think she would prefer someone who is positive but honest. Someone who could push her a little bit so that she would do the things that she hasn't been able to do for a few years. She really really likes dogs and would love a caregiver who could bring their dog over with them. This isn't necessary but would be a bonus. She is somewhat underweight and I think she would appreciate someone who could occasional cook with her or for her. She has always been a good cook, but I think with her appetite decreasing she doesn't really cook. Dogs and wine are her two favorite things. I do think she would also like to get back into going to church. As specified in the last segment she has some mild dementia which can confuse her in the moment.
