About who needs care: Care would be needed for both parents. My mother will be 87 and has short-term memory loss and incontinence. She generally forgets to put her Depends underwear on at night, so she wets the bed nearly every night. My father will be 96 and is clear-headed with little to no memory loss. He too wears a Depends underwear. Both he and my mother use a walker, as they cannot walk without them. They do not come downstairs to eat, so I would need someone to come to the house at 12:30pm, make breakfast for them, and bring it upstairs to them. I would need them to set the food on the table, and after they have gotten out of the bed, take the bedsheets off, and put them into the washer machine in the basement. They would need to put fresh linen on the bed and then have my mother put on a new Depends after she finishes breakfast. The disposable under pads on the bed linens and chairs would need to be changed and the used dishes removed. My mother would need to be reminded to put a new pair of Depends on. Two trashcans would need to be emptied and fresh trash bags put back in. Pots and pans would need to be washed, and dishes put into the dishwasher. If the clothes in the washer machine are finished, they would be needed to be put into the dryer before the person left for the day. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
