About the job
Hello. My precious 71-year-old mom suffered from a massive stroke last November. She understands everything we say but has apraxia and aphasia. She is mostly non verbal although she tries very hard to communicate. She has "right sided weakness" which basically means she is mostly paralyzed on her right side. My husband and I moved in with her to be her caretakers so she could come home from the nursing home. We are looking for a loving helper who can help her on a couple of Saturdays a month so we can have a break. Her primary needs are getting help into the bathroom when needed which consists of transfers from her lift chair to the wheelchair, onto the toilet, and back. She can stand with support and can stand in the bathroom using her grab bar. She also needs help getting her pain meds. And having lunch prepared for her.
