About who needs care: Diana has mid-stage Frontal Temporal Dementia, which gives her poor memory, as well as Hydrocephalus, which gives her brain fog and terrible balance. She lives with her husband, Daniel, who has Parkinson's Disease, which makes caring for diana difficult, however he still leads an active lifestyle. Her son, Sean (me), lives very close, and helps with a lot of her care, however between her husbands outings and her sons obligations (family and work), there are times where she needs care, as she should not be left alone for long. She has trouble staying hydrated, well fed, remembering to use the bathroom on time, remembering her medication, and needs to be supervised for fall risk. She's overall in a good mood despite her condition. She likes spending time on the lanai, likes relaxing with her dog, listening to books on tape, reading news, but has trouble maintaining other hobbies. We also have physicals therapy exercises that she does daily to ensure muscle retention, and a variety of stretches before bed to prevent restless legs. About the care needs: She would like someone caring and patient, not too talkative (she enjoys talking, and its good for her, but can be overwhelming if excessive, and preferably liberal or understanding of her strong liberal views. I would love to have someone who is interested in ensuring she eats healthy (she has high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and is overweight), gets some exercise, and experiments with new (and old) hobbies to ensure her brains gets some variety to keep it as fresh as possible.
