Companion Care Needed For My Father In Kapaa

About who needs care: My father was very full of life and energetic up until a freak accident in 2023 compounded with a stroke and dementia took away a good chunk of his mobility and hand strength in his dominant hand. Since then he has also broken his hip which meant an emergency hip replacement and loss of more overall mobility. He still can walk, but much slower and not typically as long or far. He can get VERY curmudgeonly and is NOT an easy person when he gets upset or too focused on how he thinks something should be done. His wife, my stepmom, is his only family support on the island, and while she is younger than he is and has a healthcare background, she needs to be able to take a break and have time for herself. If someone could perhaps take him on small errands, such as driving him to the dump, taking him to the library and just getting him more physically active along with mentally stimulating conversation that would be ideal! I will be on the island Tues 2/11 through Sunday 2/16 and would love to have my mom & I meet with someone about potentially setting something up. About the care needs: Firm but caring. Someone who won't back down to his gruffy and cranking attitude. Someone who can stand up to him and tell him when he has to do something or not do something. A good sense of humor and the ability to get him to see the lighter things in life and that there is still life to be had. It would help if they appreciate art especially pottery or wood working, but also painting. Liking science-fiction is a plus! Gentle when he gets frustrated because he can't do something or remember something. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
