Daytime Care For Bird Lover

Dad lives with us, however, we are looking for someone that can cover his care when our schedules are intense and we go on trips. If we find a good match, we would like to have a regular year round person to come for lunchtime visits to walk, talk and serve lunch. Dad is mobile, sometimes a bit wobbly. He may need reminders to exercise and to drink more water. Dad enjoys bird watching on the porch, reading encyclopedias, and learning about other's interests. He does not watch tv unless possibly a sporting event on occasion. We are looking for someone that is close by, intelligent and has similar interests of nature and quiet reading. 10- 30 hrs a week on a regular basis outside of my big trip in April- May 2025. Check on dad upon arrival. He may be asleep. Make a sandwich or reheat leftovers around 12-1. Dad makes his own coffee when he wakes and sits for a bit before needing interaction or FaceTime. As an introverted and quiet person, he appreciates gently easing into the day. When engaged, he has great stories, sometimes will enjoy silver sneaker exercise or dance and loves, loves watching and recording bird sightings with binoculars and a guide book. If Terry is sleeping, a caretaker can tidy up with a dust cloth or vacuum or bake something delicious. Dad does not use a smart device but may ask for you to google something that he was thinking about. We have a printer if needed to provide reading about that subject. Bird watching Accounting Geography Music was a big part of his younger life, but not able to enjoy as much now. He wears hearing aids. He played the trombone in college and sang in a quartet He has lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida and now Georgia. He was married to my mom for 43 years and then met my step mom at church. She passed in 2021. Having an education or professional life experience is good. Skilled listener. Ability and willingness to talk clearly, not fast. An important trait is not being a nervous, hovering person. Skilled at making a sandwich or soup. Physically fit enough to assist and attentive for short walks in the yard on uneven ground with elevation. Non- smoker Dad does not curse or drink alcohol. Ability to build a fire in the outdoor wood stove on cold, sunny days. Willingness to focus on a person and not a device. Parking space at the house. Our pug mix dog is 12 years old and very quiet
