About who needs care: Mom just got home from rehab hospital after suffering a stroke almost 4 weeks ago. She is able to use a walker but needs assistance. She is able to speak but has some memory issues. We need assistance with transferring from wheelchair to Walker to bed and also to the bathroom for bathroom care. She does wear adult diapers, but she does have the capability to use the toilet. She has short-term memory lapses. My parents are Korean, but they speak English quite well. My father also had open heart surgery about four years ago. He is ambulatory and hard of hearing, but a bit cantankerous. Some days, it is difficult for him to walk, but he does not like to use any walking assistance About the care needs: Cheerful but quiet when needed. Familiarity with Asian or Korean households would be really wonderful. The specialized skills would be knowledge of transferring from wheelchair to walker to bed, and assistance with toileting. My mom uses a belt for support. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
