About who needs care: Terminal brain disease affects speech and mobility. Uses a walker and wheelchair. Hospice assistant comes every morning to get him up, showered, dressed, and breakfast M-F. Cognitive and makes decisions. He can hold a conversation. He likes to watch cooking shows or is on his iPad. He wears pullups and tells you if he feels the need to go to the bathroom. He wears a gait belt and has a lift chair. He needs assistance to get up, put in wheelchair and to use walker into the bathroom. He has a late lunch/early supper prepared by you. It takes him a couple of hours to eat. He goes to bed for the night approx. 7:30-8:30 p.m. After he is in bed your job is to do a light clean up of dishes, put a load of laundry if needed into washer and dryer. Check on him before you leave. About the care needs: Have availability on some Saturday and Sundays. Be able to assist with him getting up and putting him to bed. Assist with pullup changes as needed. Night time routine: Wheelchair to master bathroom Walker with assistance from bathroom to commode. Walker assistance from bathroom to chair at sink, teeth brushing. Walker from bathroom to his bed. Assist getting into bed. Jack wears a emergency response watch if needed. Have knowledge of assistance with a gait belt. He is a fall risk without help. Keep notes in daily journal for all aids. Cook a lunch/supper. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
