About who needs care: My Grandfather is 97. I'm really just helping his wife look in advance for some extra help a few days a week . Would start off 1x them as needed . occasionally could need help with transportation helping him get to doctors appointments. He gets around walking on his own (very independent personality) . When he leaves the house uses a cane but may need. Hand . The biggest issue is that he is VERY very hard of hearing . I'd say he is about 85-90% deaf. He needs help making phone calls or speaking to people at stores as he cannot hear them at all. I help with this myself now and he does have HEARING AIDS but the Dr said at this point nothing could help but a cochlear implant and the will not do those on seniors. He finds this very frustrating. To make sure he understands and comprehends things writing down on a notepad or erase board works perfect . He is okay now with personal care but does need help sometimes with things like eyedrops or nail cutting . He is a self-employed retired architect. Hobbies include making art on photoshop on computer , photography. He loves getting bagels at his favorite deli and has Just discovered waffle in the past few years ! About the care needs: His wife would like you to have a few references and some type of resume or to show your work and education. Need to have a vehicle . CPR and some medical /nursing / caregiver relevant training would be great. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
