About who needs care: Caregiver Needed for Cancer Patient (Part-Time, M-F) We are seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver to assist with daily care for my mother, who is a cancer patient. She also manages Diabetes, Hypertension, Atrial Fibrillation (Afib), and Lymphedema. Details: Mobility: She is mobile with the use of a walker. Medications: Her medications are fully organized and follow a set schedule. Wound Care: She requires wound care on her legs, with dressings changed 2-3 times a day. Companionship: She enjoys watching Judge Judy and good movies, so companionship and engagement are appreciated. We are looking for someone to help approximately 5 hours a day, Monday through Friday. What type of personality would be a good fit? A caring and empathetic individual who has a genuine passion for helping others. Someone who is patient, understanding, and capable of providing emotional support when needed. Dependable, punctual, and organized to ensure medications and wound care are handled appropriately. Positive and friendly, someone who can engage in lighthearted conversations and make my mom feel comfortable. 2. Are there any specialized skills they need? Experience with wound care and dressing changes, particularly for lymphedema or similar conditions. Basic knowledge of managing chronic conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, and Afib, including medication adherence. Strong observational skills to identify and report any changes in my moms condition. CPR and First Aid certification would be a bonus, in case of emergencies. Experience working with older adults or individuals with limited mobility. 3. Should they have any specific hobbies/interests? An interest in TV shows like Judge Judy or movies could help them connect with my mom on a personal level. A general appreciation for lighthearted conversation and companionship. Hobbies or skills in storytelling or sharing uplifting content might be helpful for keeping her engaged and entertained. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
