About who needs care: Greetings! My Dad is 93 years, extremely alert mentally, but has an arthritic hip and unfortunately, recently took a fall. He spent 10 days in the hospital with pneumonia and was just transferred to short-term Rehab to gain his strength. He will be there for a week of two, so we are looking for someone to be present and care for him during the night only (primarily to assist him with getting up to use the bathroom, etc.). The shift would need to be approx. 12 hours (around 9 p.m. to 9 am), but may change by a few hours over time. A little background - as a former Marine, he is a fighter. He is funny, direct, extremely bright, mentally capable, interested in politics, the Bucs - and most things! He is a family man and father of 4 children who love him dearly and are on the scene often. We are looking for a caring individual who has experience caring for a man his age, with physical limitations. Thank You! About the care needs: We are looking for a caring, experienced, and patient individual who is able to engage with the elderly with ease. Since my Dad is currently in Rehab., we are not sure of the exact condition he will be in when he returns home in a few weeks. However, at the very least, the caretaker will need to be a night person who is able to remain awake and alert. My Dad will likely need assistance walking (with a walker) to the bathroom (a portable potty near his bed) which would need to be cleaned, etc. Most of the caretakers time would be spent with my Dad when he is sleeping - except for a 3-4 hour window when he is awake watching tv (from around 9 p.m. - midnight or 1 am). Light meal preparation (dinner) may be needed as well. Thank you! Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
