About who needs care: My dad has a rare disease called inclusion body myositis. Basically, you loose certain muscles. He needs assistance with opening containers, preparing meals, being picked up when he falls, personal care such as putting on socks, buttoning, cutting toenails, reminders to use walker or cane, applying lotion to back, etc. He will continually get worse. Eventually he won't be able to feed himself, walk or bathe. He does choke often so first aide knowledge and CPR are required. He can bathe himself now but needs someone around just in case he falls. He still drives but that will end soon too. He does still go out running errands and doctors appointments for now but you would eventually need to help with that too. Mornings are the worst for him mentally and physically. I've been told he has a good sense of humor. He is a flirt. Also a Christian lol. He drinks wine in the evening. Likes old shows, NASCAR, football, cars, cruises, and nature. No other pets than an ornery bird. He's stubborn like his bird. No smoking or drugs. About the care needs: Hopefully you're easy going and patient. Strong for lifting although he's thin it's still difficult to lift dead weight. Again, first aid and CPR is required. Also, he does have early onset dementia but doing very well with the medication. Some knowledge or experience with memory care would be great. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
