About who needs care: Atrial fibulation and heart problems limits and slows mobility, but she is very independent. She is also very hard of hearing, but this can be mainly attributed to a processing conditioning, and not necessarily an audio one. Most of the time, it is not that she cannot hear you, she just needs someone to repeat a sentence multiple times at the same volume level until she gets what you are saying. She definitely does better texting than talking on the phone. She is a certified Master Gardener and enjoys working in the garden, and enjoys going to her Bible Study Group. Since she is slowing down, she is finding herself doing these things more through Zoom calls now instead of in-person though. She is also an art patron and loves museums and the theater. She used to be an amateur chef and loved being in the kitchen. However, she tires very easily and is finding it harder to shop, cook, and prepare meals for herself. She finds herself getting around mainly with the use of a walker, this includes inside and outside of the house, to prevent from falling. Her ideal structured day would include light housework, having someone run an occasional errand for her, and possible meal prep. She also needs someone to be a local contact for her in case of emergency, and someone to help with occasional household tasks since I live in South Florida and she does not have any other family in the area. About the care needs: Someone with an easy-go-with-the-flow attitude would work best with my Mom. My Mom is fiercely independent and does not like to be told what to do, but she is a very gentle and caring soul. She would appreciate someone who is slow and patient with her. At this time, there are no specialized skills that are needed, however this may change over time. No specific hobbies or interests are requested. However, someone who likes to cook and/or share recipes would be appreciated. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
