About who needs care: Diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension and his blood pressure needs to be taken while laying down, sitting, and standing. If it's below 100 he needs to take 1 blood pressure medication. This has greatly affected his day to day. He used to ambulate independently with a cane and go out to dinner, grocery shopping, etc. but he had a couple of falls which resulted in him being hospitalized, and then in rehab for 25 days. He is now primarily bed bound but we are working with in-home PT/OT on mobility. He can stand and does ambulate using a walker but needs supervision at all times while ambulating because he is a high fall risk. Has a wheelchair as well. Has a bedside urinal and commode. Needs assistance w/ wiping after a BM. Wears Depends just in case but rarely has accidents. OT is working to get him in the shower chair in the shower for bathing but is still working on that. For now, he gets bed baths. Meal prep for lunch/dinner - his wife will usually have food already made that just needs to be heated up. Lives with his wife who works part-time during the afternoon. Has 1 Corgi dog who just stays underneath his bed most of the time. She's friendly. No smoking in the home. About the care needs: He can usually transfer himself but may sometimes need assistance getting from wheelchair to bed so CG just be willing to help lift him under his arms, if needed. Someone who will talk with him throughout the day and motivate him to have a conversation and get up and walk around. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
