About who needs care: My mother-in-law lives alone, takes good care of herself and is physically active. Loves yard-work and puzzles. Makes her own meals but could use help with shopping and meal prep. She would like rides to visit friends in nursing homes, and trips to the grocery store and hairdresser. She has family that all pitches in to help her. She is starting to have some memory impairment. Ideally, we think help with lunch, activities in the afternoon, and meal prep for the dinner time. She is able to serve herself and clean up. She has her own cleaning service that comes 1x month, which has been adequate, might need occasional touch ups in the interim. She prefers to bathe in an upstairs tub, but her family worries about stairs and the tub. About the care needs: Caregiver should be kind, patient, a good listener (she has lots of stories), a good driver and interested in taking her out for errands, mostly grocery, pharmacy, occasional Dr. appointments and hairdresser every other week or so. I think she would like to purchase things at a plant nursery, have some help outdoors to plant flowers, fill bird feeders, clean off the porch and sit outdoors. She loves to rake and keep her yard nice. (She has weekend help for the big things from her grandson). She walks well, so occasionally a walk around the block is nice with company. And indoors she loves to read, organize family photos and do puzzles. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
