About who needs care: Father has dementia late stages. Needs daily changing, lift move (lift is provided), food prep, sometimes feeding and drinking (his ability to feed himself or remember to swallow can vary day to day), changing throughout the day, wheelchair moves to back porch in the afternoon, and final day changing and putting him to sleep. There is another nurse who comes twice a week to bathe, may need to assist. Hobbies are watching older television shows and visiting when he has a good day. Most of the time he eats and sleeps with minimal interaction. He is currently in the later stage of dementia. He is not able to walk any longer and has had multiple strokes. About the care needs: The house can get rather messy at times and it would be great to help out but not needed. Need to make sure they can handle it. Also, there are large dogs, friendly but big so they should be good with dogs. My dad lives with my brother who is a vet so any military experience or experience dealing with vets with PTSD is a plus. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
