About who needs care: Young Onset Alzheimers, later stage, diagnosed four years ago at age 57. Pretty severe Logopenic Primary Progressive Aphasia. Needs assistance with ADLs. Still ambulatory and mobile. Cooperative and easygoing. Unable to participate in hobbies or activities any longer. Watches TV; takes the dog for a walk in the yard and on our block; says he tends his garden but not really anything there anymore; enjoys being with people and loves to make others smile or laugh. About the care needs: * Soft-spoken. Given the patient's aphasia, it is quiet in our house and he doesn't like when people are really loud or talk incessantly. * Kindness matters! * Patience. It takes a long time for the patient to get his words out or express his thoughts. It is important to not be dismissive when he is trying to say something. * Must line dogs. We have a friendly and somewhat spoiled 4 y/o mixed breed that the patient adores. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
