About who needs care: With mid-stage Alzheimer's, my father-in-law still recognizes people, but sometimes confuses them. He is currently living in a nursing home where he is not receiving enough attention, and he has lost a significant amount of weight (he will not eat unless someone is there to encourage him or physically feed him). We take turns every evening at dinner time to feed him, but we all work and are unable to be with him for breakfast and lunch. We would be grateful for someone to come in to sit with him at those times to chat with him and to feed him. He loves any talk of travel, but especially train or boat travel. He is quite the historian. About the care needs: The individual should be patient and kind. Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly as he is almost 90 years old. No special skills are required. The nursing staff tends to his cleaning and dressing. His hobbies: loves train, boat travel; history- -especially WWII-related topics; very talented painter. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
