About who needs care: My Mother has Alzheimers and diabetes with a cgm. She needs supervision and assistance with all tasks, but is ambulatory. She requires adherence to a toileting schedule approximately every 3-4 hours unless she requests sooner. She was an elementary school teacher and loves art, children, and animals. Huge Beatles fan and enjoys watching music videos and playing with her books and dolls. Daily schedule: 9:30: woken up, toilet, shower if needed, getting dressed and personal care. 10:30: take morning meds and eat breakfast and insulin administered. 11:30 - 1 or 2 p.m. naps on sofa with tv. 1-2 : whenever she wakes, immediately toilet, then give gummie and have lunch with insulin administered after. 3-5: open to activities around the house, walking the dog, helping with laundry/ household tasks, or if she prefers watching tv, and having her dolls and books. 5:30: toileting, receives a gummie and medication. Dinner also eaten around this time with insulin given accordingly. 8:30: toileting and changing to night gown, then has gummie and also a snack. 11 pm: nighttime pills are given with nighttime gummies. 11:30-12 toileting, personal care and put in bed. About the care needs: Someone that is not afraid of dogs since we have a large Mastiff. Familiarity with memory care skills and redirecting is crucial. Someone with a relaxed personality and a good sense of humor since care can be challenging. Patience and an appreciation of music would also be crucial for keeping my Mom happy. Services needed include: feeding, and bathing / dressing.
