About who needs care: My mom has in home dialysis 3 days a week. She has all her faculties but is using a wheelchair because of previous falls and pains in her legs and back. A typical day includes making her favorite breakfast (waffles and some days a scrambled egg), spending some time sitting outside on the patio reading the paper, a light lunch usually soup and crackers or mac and cheese, and visiting with family Members in the late afternoon and for dinner. About the care needs: My mom likes someone she can talk to about anything and everyone but also someone who knows when she needs time to herself. She does not want someone to hover over her and make her feel like an invalid. However, she cant do everyday tasks such as bathroom, getting dressed, or showered without assistance due to her lack of strength and need for transfers. She has to feel like she is in control and the person assisting is just helping her. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
