I will be in Colorado for the birth of my first grandchild and will need hands-on care starting on about 07/17 and lasting for about 10 days to take care of my mother in Newark. My main area of concern is medication management - mom is 96 and sometimes forgets to take her meds. She is very hard of hearing and the caregiver will need to get her attention and shout at her, but otherwise, she is in pretty good health. She can be pretty stubborn and independent. Duties include providing companionship and social interaction. Additional responsibilities include meal preparation or confirmation that she is eating some dinner. I will make sure she has some microwavable meals to heat up, since she has lost interest in preparing anything for herself. Preferences for a caregiver who is a non-smoker.
