About who needs care: ALS patient- needs to be fed and assistance with cup for drinking' His speech is difficult to understand- will try to have communication cards made. I will have breakfast ready and coffee made. He is bed bound. May need pillows repositioned. He looks at TV and has his computer most of the day. About the care needs: Quiet- not talkative since he can't speak very well. No special skills needed. He may need to be repositioned in bed- uses several pillows. Just make sure he has something to drink. For lunch he might want canned soup but usually doesn't eat lunch. I have small bib/towel to keep his clothes clean; he has alot of silava. Small towels are available for him. Services needed include: feeding, and bathing / dressing.
