About the job

About who needs care: I am seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver for my 76-year-old grandmother, who is experiencing the early stages of dementia. She requires assistance with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, and toileting. Her ideal day begins with a shower in the morning, followed by breakfast (or sometimes brunch, if she eats a bit later). She enjoys simple meals, such as a sandwich, and all meals that need to be heated will already be prepared and placed in a bowl for convenience. She takes a nap around 12:00-1:00 p.m. in her recliner and can have a snack before/after her nap. Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience in dementia care who understands the unique needs of older adults with cognitive decline. Patience, empathy, and a gentle approach are essential for her well-being and comfort. Additionally, the caregiver must be tech-savvy and comfortable using smart TVs and other devices, as my grandmother enjoys watching her favorite shows and needs assistance navigating the technology. We also have a cat and one bird (which is kept in its cage), so the caregiver should be comfortable around pets. My grandmother takes medication daily, which has already been placed in a medication holder for ease of administration. If you are experienced with dementia care and can offer one-time or short-term assistance, I would love to connect. About the care needs: The ideal caregiver for my grandmother would be someone who is patient, compassionate, and gentle, as she requires assistance with daily activities due to her early-stage dementia. A caregiver with experience in dementia care is essential, as they should understand the unique challenges and needs of individuals with cognitive decline. The caregiver should also be tech-savvy, comfortable with using smart TVs and other devices to help my grandmother enjoy her favorite shows and enjoy watching movies with her. Since my grandmother takes daily medication, its important that the caregiver is experienced in medication management and can follow instructions using the pre-organized medication holder. The caregiver must also be comfortable with pets, as we have a cat and one bird in the home. A flexible and reliable personality is crucial, as well as a positive and encouraging attitude to keep her spirits up. Patience is key, as my grandmother can sometimes get frustrated, and a calm, understanding approach is needed in these moments. Its also important that the caregiver enjoys talking and engaging in conversation with my grandmother, as this helps keep her mentally engaged and provides her with much-needed social interaction. Ideally, the caregiver will also have an interest in arts, crafts, music, or reading, as these activities can be very therapeutic and enjoyable for my grandmother. If you are a reliable, caring, and experienced individual with a warm heart and the right skills, I would love to connect. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
