About who needs care: My mother is 93, but has all her mental faculties. She does not need 24/7 care. She is hard of hearing and needs support mainly in the mornings/evenings getting up/getting ready for bed, making herself something to eat, as well as taking her meds in the morning and evenings. In addition, the standard help such as grocery shopping, appointments, taking care of her kitties. Quick, but this should give you an idea. No overnight care needed as she sleeps through the night. Taking her meds properly is very important. About the care needs: Experienced, but not to the point of being tired of care giving. Responsible. Good communicator. Can differentiate between a simple solution (hearing aid issue) and true lack of understanding. IOW, knowing the hearing aid is not working properly instead of mental issues is important. Likes taking care of cats - they are easy though, feed them in the morning and feed them in the evening and change the litter box when needed. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
