My mother is wheelchair-bound and needs a reliable, compassionate, and empathic caregiver who can assist her with daily activities. A CNA or morning caregiver dresses her for the day, but my mother will need help with the following: meal preparation, medication reminders, assistance with toileting, taking her out on the front porch for sunshine, letting the dog in/out, answering the phone or front door, and the sundry things that are hard to do when you're in a wheelchair. It helps if the applicant has experience dealing with clients with memory loss and is patient. Experience with a Hoyer lift is helpful, but family members or a CNA can train the new hire on its use.
