About who needs care: I am a 28-year-old quadriplegic man. I am currently cared for by my wife and we are looking to invest in a caregiver to help with my morning routine. We are looking for 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. daily. Activities include bowel management, showering, and basic hygiene tasks as well as getting me dressed and transferred for the day. We have a good routine down currently; we just need help to take some of the burden off my wife. I am quite talkative and personable. I live with my parents and we also have two small pets - one cat and one dog. About the care needs: We are looking for a caregiver who is well trained and capable of learning quickly. Independence is important to us, and we need someone who won't need to be micromanaged. Specialized skills required: - Bowel Management (digital stimulation) - Capable of performing transfers into and out of wheelchairs. We mostly use a Hoyer lift. - Stretching and minor physical fitness - Basic catheter care (indwelling suprapubic catheter) - Medication distribution - Hygiene activities including styling hair, brushing teeth, and dressing Ability to hold a conversation is a plus! Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
