About who needs care: He has something called CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy) which makes it very difficult for him to move. He is also experiencing cognitive decline and memory impairment, and has also had some falls in the past. While he is able to go to the bathroom by himself, it does take him a considerable amount of time to do so, and does occasionally require some help. He has trouble bathing and would require some help with that on occasion as well. He does get food delivered to his house, but I would love it if someone could go shopping for him once a week. As far as hobbies go, he really doesn't have any at this point, other than watching TV. I would love it if someone could help him walk around his apartment complex or neighborhood at least a little bit, just so he starts to get some kind of exercise. An idea day would go something like this: Arrive, make sure he has eaten, clean the house, help him bathe (if needed), wash his clothes, and maybe help him walk or at least listen to him talk for a bit. About the care needs: My father can be a difficult person and while I am used to it, someone who is a stranger might not be. While he is completely harmless, to say that he can be frustratingly difficult at times is an understatement. So, the ideal caregiver for him would be someone who has a thick skin. Lastly - and I am not quite sure how to word this - my father can be a bit of a sexist, and as such I am not certain if a woman would be the best fit. I am of course open to it, but I must be honest and let you know this about him. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
