My 56-year-old husband was diagnosed with FTD dementia with aphasia in 2020. And now it's time to find some additional help for he and I. We live in Valencia. I've been able to leave my husband at home unattended while I go to work and/or do errands. My work hours/days are Tuesdays Wednesdays & Thursdays 9am-6-9 p.m. So far he is ambulatory, is fine using the restroom. He can feed himself, but needs prompting with continuing to eat, and help him dressing himself. With prompting he is able to wash himself in the shower, and I help rinse him off with handheld shower nozzle. Eventually, I think he'd feel comfortable with help showering if it's another male, but for now I'm glad to do it. He loves TV and movies, but sometimes needs help turning the channel with the remote control. The house is usually very clean, but it would be nice to get some help myself with some dishes and light laundry. I highly anticipate needing respite care for myself. I'm navigating through all of this as a novice, which makes me open to suggestions and collaboration with his caregiver. He loves TV, movies, musicals, live theatre, scrolling on his phone, his little dog, "Weenie". We're looking for a present nurturing caregiver with experience with dementia. We live in Valencia with plenty of parking on our culdesac. Our little 8 pound dog named "Weenie". She is always by his side, and very attached to him. She barks at first at strangers, but always warms up to new people. Looking forward to speaking with you.
