About who needs care: My dad is a 63-year-old stroke victim that has a variety of visual and cognitive problems. He lives in an assisted living community but is very frustrated with being surrounded by older people and wants to get out of the house and do activities. We are looking for a male caregiver to act as a companion to my dad and make him feel like he is doing things and is not at home watching TV all day. They enjoy golf and going for walks and eating sushi. They love movies and has a big sweet tooth. He is not able to read and write well but it could be worth practicing writing and reading for some extra brain stimulation. About the care needs: My dad would respond well to a male caregiver that is close in age to him (40s - 60s). He is funny and likes to tell jokes, and enjoys having engaging conversation. He wants someone who is eager to get him out of the house and doing activities such as going for walks, going to the park, going shopping, going to the movies, going out to lunch, going to mini golf, and more. He should be patient and kind since my dad feels like he has lost much of his independence and has been feeling sad. We want to give him more fun things to do that will help him feel good. Services needed include: transportation, and companionship.
