We are seeking a part time care-taker for my 69-year-old mom, who has suffered two strokes and has limited mobility. If you are: -patient -kind -caring -calm/not easily rattled -a good problem solver -helpful/industrious -someone who makes daily activities fun -encouraging -positive -experienced in taking care of stroke/dementia patients ... then this will be the right position for you! My mom is 5'1" and weighs 130 lbs. You will need to be experienced & comfortable with helping her transfer from bed to wheelchair & back. Your duties would include helping her with all the activities of daily living (toothbrushing, feeding, diapering, toileting, bed baths, changing clothes, grooming, etc) as well has encouraging her to do her PT/OT and speech therapy exercises. Some light cleaning/tidying up of her things would be involved. My mom is strong, but due to her strokes, she is uncoordinated and needs to re-learn a lot of things. She mostly speaks Vietnamese, but can communicate in English. She responds really well to caring & helpful/productive people (ex: if you see her bed is messy & fold up the blankets without her asking). She's still got a sense of humor, even though when she's feeling numbness & pain it'll make her irritable. She was a wonder-woman who took care of everyone in the community, so having all these deficits is really frustrating to her, but we (the family) believe with the right team of therapists and caretakers, we can get her back on her feet! Please reach out if you are interested. Hours are negotiable. God bless you for considering this very important work!
