About who needs care: My mom needs help with getting enough to eat, either take-out or meal preparation. She does not have much appetite. She also needs rides to doctors appointments and physical therapy. She has trouble with scheduling so assistance with her calendar is needed. She also needs assistance with sorting her pill box and occasionally reordering prescriptions. Other tasks as needed. She wants to continue living in her home and loves her garden. You can have an intelligent conversation with her and she likes to think of herself as more independent than she is, but her memory is challenged. She does not use a cell phone but does email. She is taking pill therapy for lung cancer and sometimes needs help with compression stocking due to swelling. I think she needs a regular check in. About the care needs: My mom respects capable people that get the job done. She is an engaged person, interested in the environment, alternative health care etc. She has strong opinions about things and can be challenging. She likes to feel she is in charge. A proactive person with a sense of humor would help. Driving is essential, an interest in gardening would be nice. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
