About who needs care: We are seeking an experienced, compassionate caregiver for a male client in his late 30s who has been living with Parkinsons disease since his late teens. He is currently in the advanced stages of Parkinson's but remains relatively independent with the aid of assistive devices. While verbal communication is somewhat limited, he can communicate his needs effectively. He requires assistance with daily living activities and enjoys engaging in physical activities with support. About the care needs: Gender: Male preferred, as the client feels more comfortable with male caregivers. Age: Ideally 30s-40s with experience working with individuals with movement disorders, particularly Parkinsons disease. Experience: Prior experience working with Parkinsons patients or movement disorders. Knowledge of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and generator use is highly preferred. Comfortable with fall assistance and able to help move a 180lb patient when needed. Key Skills: Ability to assist with medication management and ensure adherence to the prescribed schedule. Capable of preparing nutritious meals for the client, considering any dietary needs or restrictions. Experience supporting service dog interaction and assisting with the dog when necessary. Encouraging participation in activities of daily living (ADLs), such as showering, dressing, brushing teeth, eating, etc., using adaptive equipment when required. Willing to assist with physical activity and encourage outdoor walks, running, and attending the gym to maintain mobility. Must be able to assist with mobility and provide support in the event of falls, including proper lifting techniques and transfer assistance. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
