About who needs care: Worsening condition prohibiting the use of his one hand (the other is handicap). Possible early onset of neurological issues. Difficulty with everyday tasks including opening and carrying items, using the bathroom and shower and phone. Unable to write. We are concerned about personal hygiene (ability to wash and take care of toiletries). Optimal structure would be in-home care in the mornings to assist with hygiene, eating and other daily tasks. Would also appreciate someone who would be willing to listen and provide company. Perhaps a 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. time frame. Then a return in the evenings for similar tasks. Perhaps a 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. schedule. While we are looking for someone 5 days a week, family would also be available to take him to stay locally on occasion so the schedule could be intermittent. About the care needs: We believe a male caregiver would be best. Dad was strongly independent and is embarrassed by his struggles. Caregiver needs to present as strong enough to help him and handle his modesty concerns. Dad is Catholic and devoted time to his Christian faith and values. Someone of a similar nature would be more ideal. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
