About who needs care: 88 yr old female. Her first language is German, but she can speak and understand English well. Enjoys nature shows on TV. Enjoys shopping- at both grocery stores, and at retail stores . She belongs to a German club and goes to meetings twice a month. She has friends who live in Sacramento, and they occasionally see a movie or have lunch/dinner together. She still drives her car but has gotten lost a few times. However, she eventually ends up finding her way home. She has memory problems and suffers from paranoia but overall functions quite well- does not need assistance with bathing, dressing, etc. Needs help with household chores, cooking meals, reminders to drink water during the day and not skip meals. She often eats snacks or junk food in place of meals. She has difficulty following instructions for recipes and forgot how to prepare her favorite dishes. She has severe arthritis, high blood pressure, A-fib, weak legs, bladder problems (wears incontinence pads), and balance issues (fall risk). She uses a cane when going out but should use a walker for safety. She has multiple walkers in the house but rarely uses them. She recently fell outside while home alone. Concern for poor judgement due to mental decline. Needs someone around to ensure safety, to make healthy meals, and ensure she stays hydrated during the day. About the care needs: Female caregivers ONLY. German speaking would be a huge plus! She would likely prefer someone who isn't in their 20s (too young). Someone who enjoys gardening would be nice. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
