About who needs care: My mother just turned 80. She was once very active, but about 5 years into her Parkinson's diagnosis, she now has limited mobility. Transferring is the biggest challenge, especially when physical therapy exercises are not done. She gets around her house with a walker, but also has a transport chair for doctors appointments. She moves extremely slow and often freezes, so she teaches us a good amount of patience! Hand tremors and arthritis make doing the things she used to enjoy, quite difficult. She likes listening to music, crafting, cooking, baking & gardening. Her ideal day starts with breakfast, then she takes a look at her calendar, bank account, bills, etc. The rest of the day would include time spent outside getting sunshine, doing light housework, working on one of her interests, and resting. These tasks require some degree of assistance. She has good attitude, and will keep you on smiling with her funny little quips. About the care needs: A caregiver that has a positive attitude, laughs easily, is flexible, easygoing, and most of all... has patience. (again... she's slow) She needs help doing physical therapy exercises, and while they are very simple movements (anybody can do them), a potential caregiver should have the ability to help her with that. If a caregiver does not have much experience cooking, baking, crafting, my mom would gladly teach you how! Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and mobility assistance.
