About who needs care: My grandfather, Les, has been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis- a lung disease that will eventually take his life. He is on hospice at home & lives with his wife who is also in her 80s. The hospice nurse comes twice a week to check vitals and progression and there is also an aid who comes twice a week to give him a shower. My grandfather is on oxygen 24/7 and is still able to move around with supervision and occasional assistance. He has a transport chair that he will push around like a walker and occasionally need to be pushed in. He gets up in the morning, gets ready in the bathroom on his own, comes to the kitchen for coffee usually has breakfast around 9/9:30 and then will either go to the computer room or the living room. They do not leave the house. They really need someone here to help with grocery runs, meal prepping, dishes, laundry, cleaning, and just being here to assist Les move around the house. I am here from out of state for some time but would like to get the right person in here before I leave. Would like to have interviews with my grandparents and myself and possibly do a trial day. About the care needs: Les likes his independence, and his wife is a very strong headed person with a lot of anxiety about the entire situation. Someone who is good at listening & understands that they are there to help ensure my grandfather is able to have a quality end of his lifetime would be best. The hours I have chosen currently may not be what they need, very well could be less- maybe more. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and mobility assistance.
