About who needs care: Dementia but not totally gone , just memory issues and easy confusion. Physically unstable but able to get around and up and down stairs with help. Peripheral neuropathy so needs blankets. Able to dress himself, take care of personal needs. Gets confused with TV remote, often needs some help with his computer (usually basic things). Very hard of hearing so phone calls need to be translated/managed for him. Cannot drive so needs to be taken to appointments. Companionship, not nursing. Food prep. Likes reading magazines and online news, watching movies on his computer. Sleeps a lot in his recliner. Not into people, not social. Likes quiet. Does not like to be hovered over. Can take his own meds, which I have organized for him. About the care needs: No specialized skills. Paul is a loner, not very social. Likes peace and quiet, reading, watching movies on his computer. He is not really comfortable with a lot of company, so someone who is friendly but self-contained. A decent cook. He likes fish and healthy eating. No specific hobbies or interests needed. Probably someone a bit older or mature who speaks in a measured tone, not the rapid-fire chipmunk talk so many young women have seemed to adopt. (Sorry) Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
