About the job
Jared is 35 years old and divides his time between his parents' home in Berkley, and his siblings' home in Oakland. He is a kind and gentle individual who enjoys music, movies, and art. Though he lacks the capacity for complete independence, with supervision and gentle coaching he is able to demonstrate a wide variety of competencies and skills (e. g. cooking, cleaning, dressing, bathing, laundry, arts, crafts, music performance, and more). The ideal candidate will have a kind, patient, and gentle manner, as Jared is sensitive especially to the energy of others. He must be allowed to move at his own cognitive and physical pace. Vigilance in observing and assessing his mood and level of engagement are necessary, as well, as he is generally non-verbal and unable to advocate for his personal needs without a prompt.
